Certified Legal Translations (CLT) was founded in 2005 by David Higbee, a certified court translator and interpreter who is currently accredited by the National Center for State Courts for translation and interpretation between Spanish and English. He is also a member of the American Translators Association, the Japan Association of Translators and the National Association of Judicial Interpreters and Translators, and currently holds degrees in Foreign Language Education/TESOL, Spanish Translation, and Japanese.  He has worked locally in Japan, Mexico, Argentina and the U.S. as a freelance translator and interpreter since 2000 and was certified as a court interpreter in 2002.

After several years working as a freelancer in the legal, medical, business and technical fields, David started CLT to assist businesses and individuals in the often confusing process of getting documents translated and certified. Although CLT has only been in business for around 5 years, many members of both our permanent staff and our freelance roster have been language service providers for over a decade. They are based in all areas of the U.S. and come from many different countries and backgrounds, which gives us a talented and diverse pool of translators and editors to work with. 

Since its inception, CLT has expanded to provide better service, implementing new technologies and covering the most needed languages in the U.S., Latin America, Europe and Japan.  In addition to our U.S. based team of translators, we currently have project coordinators and experienced translators based all over the world who work on various facets of our translation projects. We have also started to work with OCR and Translation Memory technologies to streamline our translation process and guarantee the highest level of quality available.
